For Communities
Each community's journey is as unique as the solutions waiting to be discovered. Building community capacity through a strengths-based, hope-filled change process, invites diverse cross-sector teams to discover and design practices to contribute to sustainable change and positions community members most impacted to be the leaders of their own community's healing.
The Positive Deviance approach is based on three assumptions (Lindberg & Schneider, 2013):
- Knowledge and experience required for change exists in every
organization. - Change is best led from within an organization by those with firsthand knowledge of an institution’s processes, history, and behavioral norms.
- Broad adoption of new behaviors requires widespread and genuine engagement of personnel, especially those at the frontlines.
